Okay, I’d like to officially admit my obsession with glass jars. Sometimes I like to buy particular packaging (of course knowing that at least someone in the household will consume the contents) just because I see its upcycle capabilities. Take, for instance, the beautiful jar of Trader Joe’s peaches. There’s a win-win here. Not only do they tide us over for the winter and spring until the fresh, juicy wonders grace the tables of the farmers’ market, but they come in a smooth, perfectly slender glass container. Seriously though, TJ’s could sell these things without the fruit and I’d never notice.

Recently, my daughter’s hair ties had started driving me absolutely insane. They were littering almost an entire drawer in her bathroom and if they weren’t there, they were scattered around the house, often ending up on my 2-year old’s wrists as “bracelets”. It was time to find a good home for them. Enter peach jars, a little yellow paint and some washi tape. And I don’t even mind them sitting on the counter top anymore. I love the rainbow of colors that strikes me when I walk into the room (yes, there are that many). Does she have to dig to the bottom to find some of her favorites? Sure. But the wide mouth makes dumping and refilling a breeze (even the 2-year old can help).

Trader Joe’s, if your food wasn’t already tempting enough, you know how to make it darned irresistible for a girl like me…
